Leadership and Staff
Elder and Staff Leadership Team
Glen Ellyn Bible Church (GEBC) is an Elder led and staff driven church. The term “Elder” can sound strange to our 21st century ears, but it is a biblical word that describes the highest level of leadership within the local church. The GEBC Elder board is made of up of nine men who are elected by the congregation and are charged with cultivating and casting vision, as well as overseeing caregiving and the teaching ministries of the church. The senior pastor, Kelly Brady, is the only Elder who also serves as a paid staff member.
The staff of GEBC are a group of passionate and gifted women and men charged with strategically implementing the church’s vision. Their primary task is to recruit, equip and empower volunteers to do the work of the church’s ministries. Our staff’s greatest joy is to share in ministry with the people of GEBC.
Kelly joined the staff of Glen Ellyn Bible Church in 1994. During his tenure, he has overseen children’s, youth and family ministries at one time or another.
In May 2004, Kelly became the senior pastor, with his primary responsibilities being preaching, leading the staff and cultivating and casting vision.
A graduate of Wheaton College, he holds masters degrees in Educational Ministries and Biblical Theology, as well as a doctorate in ministry from Trinity International University in Deerfield.
Married in 1991, Kelly and Sherri have three children.

Nathan joined the GEBC staff as a technical assistant in 2014, and has served in audio and video realms of the church. He is currently the Assistant Student Ministry Director. He earned a degree in Public Relations from Malone University in Canton, Ohio. Throughout his career, he has photographed and filmed for various corporations and non-profits. You can catch him wearing neon at Children’s Ministry game nights, performing stand-up comedy, or cheering on the hopelessness that is Cleveland sports teams.
Erin joined the Glen Ellyn Bible Church staff in August 2017 as the Women’s Ministry Director. Erin and her husband, Jordan, grew up in Lake Geneva, WI and both attended Wheaton College. During their time at Wheaton College, they both started serving in the GEBC youth group. They continued to serve and get plugged into small groups at GEBC, while Erin pursued her graduate degree at Wheaton in Christian Formation and Ministry. After graduating, Erin was a Resident Director at John Brown University, where she oversaw a residence hall of 240 female students. She loved mentoring and discipling the students at JBU. She is excited to continue to use her gifts and passions for identity and spiritual development to come alongside the women at GEBC. Erin enjoys reading, paddle boarding, traveling, and connecting with others over a shared meal or good cup of coffee. Erin and Jordan have two kids Adelyn and Miles, and love spending time with family and friends. They are thrilled to be back in this area and a part of the community at GEBC.
Kendra joined the staff team in 2018 as the Caregiving Center Assistant Director.
Glen joined the elder board in 2018. He and his wife have attended GEBC for 28 years.
This is Phil Koch and I am looking forward to serving as Elder and living the great Godly adventure that Glen Ellyn Bible Church is headed towards. I was born and raised in the Chicago area. My family and I started coming to GEBC in the Fall of 1998. We had just moved back to the area after living/working overseas for five years. All it took was one visit and we knew that GEBC would be our church home. I have been married to Cherie for 38 great years and have two children, Joel who is 31 and Alison who is 25. Joel is married to Sarah and they have a 3 year old son named Liam. At present, I am an active participant in small group, men’s Frat, usher and the Global Missions Leadership Team. Last year I made the decision to leave corporate life after 43 years. I enjoyed my work in the fields of transportation, consulting, energy and agricultural but it was time to turn the page to the next chapter of life. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, sports, movies and international travel (especially visiting GEBC missionaries).
Carolyn joined the GEBC staff in July 2016 as Preschool Coordinator and in January 2017 began her new position as the Adult Ministries Assistant. She has enjoyed tutoring high school math part time while being home with her three kids, Lila, Micah and Cora. Carolyn and her husband Matt have been attending GEBC since 2010. Carolyn and her husband are passionate about connecting with other families in fellowship and spending time together as a family.
John serves as the Sending Pastor overseeing the Local and Global Sending Ministry and Student Ministry at Glen Ellyn Bible Church. He attended Washington Bible College in Maryland and has masters degrees from Wheaton in Intercultural Studies and Educational Ministries. He has served churches in Georgia, Colorado, and Illinois. John and Tammie are proud parents of three children. He enjoys snow skiing, hacking at golf, yard work, taking pictures, travel, long meetings, humor, the Boston Red Sox, and Cape Cod beaches. He loves being on staff at GEBC and is passionate about seeing a quiet revolution of men and women worldwide becoming disciples of Jesus.
Janet joined the staff in October 2012 in the worship department and made the switch to Children’s Ministry in 2018. A former middle school choir director and department chair in the Naperville schools, she has a passion for education and helping kids and their parents grow as followers of Jesus. Janet and her husband, Matt, have attended GEBC since 2001 and have 4 kids.
My wife, Beth, and I began attending GEBC in 2004 just after having newborn twins. Amongst the chaos and joy of those new weeks we felt immediately welcomed into the GEBC body, quickly connecting with other young families and establishing friendships that would become like family. God has grown our family in unique ways and we now have five children: two sets of twins and one in between. In 2010 we joined the launch team from GEBC that planted Four Corners Community Church in Darien where I had the privilege of serving as an elder. I have been an educator for 18 years (currently at Downers Grove South High School). where I teach freshman English, a cross-curricular program for struggling students, and a senior creative writing class. My wife and I also own a photography studio, Maas Photography, where we enjoy working together creatively. I am humbled by the idea of serving GEBC in this capacity and thankful that God is generous in His grace. My prayer is that as a body of believers we would come to more deeply understand how much He loves us and that we would boldly share His love with the world.
Andrea joined the GEBC staff as the part-time Children’s Ministry Assistant in September 2017. She graduated from North Central College with a Business Management degree and has worked in the non-profit industry since graduation. Andrea and her husband Steve live in Wheaton with their 3 kids (Jacob, Mollie & Greta) and their feisty dog, Josie. Andrea and Steve are involved with small groups at GEBC and serve in the children’s nursery, Feed my Starving Children, and other volunteer events throughout the year. They also enjoy hosting fun events with their friends and family and are both highly involved in their neighborhood and kid’s school community. Andrea also enjoys reading, playing tennis, and watching her kid’s sporting events.
Sarah joined the GEBC staff in 2015, and serves in a part-time role as the Caregiving Center Director. Sarah met her husband, Tim, at Wheaton College, where she studied Business & Economics. Following college, Sarah worked briefly in event production before providing fundraising counsel to non-profits. She is excited to see how God is using her previous work experience and passions to help serve His people through the Caregiving Center. When she’s not trying desperately to keep up with her four children, she enjoys the outdoors and being active.
Sarah joined the GEBC team in October of 2018.
Mark joined the Elder Board in 2016. He and his wife Susan have two children and have attended GEBC for over 28 years.

Bonnie joined the staff in September 2001 providing support as Assistant to the Children’s Ministry Directors and later, also supporting Women’s Ministry. In September 2017, she moved into the Church Office Manager position. As the church Office Manager Bonnie handles many of the financial and administrative duties of the church. Bonnie and her husband, Lance live in Glen Ellyn. They have three adult sons, Eric, Glenn and Luke. Apart from enjoying her role as mom, she loves to travel (especially to the family cabin in the woods in the U.P. of Michigan). She is a Glen Ellyn native and has always made her home in the western suburbs.

They met while they were students at Wheaton College and got married right after graduation. They now live in Winfield and have been a part of Glen Ellyn Bible Church since 2010. John enjoys running, biking and competing in triathlons. He also enjoys outdoor activities and is an avid duck hunter. As a family, they love to spend time together with their extended family on the beach in West Michigan.
Mark joined the GEBC staff in 2016 as the Student Ministries Pastor. He serves primarily as the High School youth pastor but oversees all student ministry for Middle School through College students.
Mark is originally from the northeast, where he spent the first half of his childhood just outside of New York City. Although he spent the second half of his childhood just outside of Boston, Mark’s heart and sports allegiances remain permanently tied to the far-superior New York teams. Mark felt called to ministry in high school, and pursued a degree in Christian Education and Ministry and Bible and Theology at Wheaton College. After graduating in 2011 he joined the staff of an inner-city church plant in Chicago for two years. After marrying his wife, Elle, in 2013 he heard the unmistakable voice of God, saying, “Go West, young man!” Mark and Elle moved out to Denver, where Mark earned his Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary, served as the youth and worship pastor at a local church, and spent his free time shredding the fresh powder of the Rockies. Mark and Elle have a crazy and hilarious daughter named Hadley (2014). Mark enjoys watching and playing pretty much any sport, playing guitar, listening to music, the great outdoors, and doing just about anything with good friends.
Bob joined the elder board in 2017. He and his wife Maggie have been at GEBC for 10 years.
Kurt Wise joined our staff team in 2018, he serves as Facilities Manager. You can reach Kurt at email@example.com.
My wife, Colleen, and I have been attending GEBC since 1995. At that time we had two girls and welcomed our son a couple years later. All three of our kids went through Children’s Ministry and then on to Youth Group. We have been blessed to see them continue in their love of the Lord and commitment to their faith and believe the foundation they received at home, supplemented by GEBC, has played a large part in their choices today. Over the years I have served on the elder board, coordinated and taught adult education classes, and was privileged to preach a few times. One of best things that happened to me was an invitation to Men’s Fraternity when we had been at the church for a few years. I have been able to walk through life with men that I meet with on Friday mornings for about 20 years. I am part of a foundation that works with Rafael and Beth Afanador, GEBC missionaries to Colombia. My heart is for faithful proclamation of God’s Word and for GEBC to provide a place that challenges my/our faith so that we actively participate in Christ’s request to “follow me”. Vocationally I have always been on the finance side of businesses and currently work for a not-for-profit that provides funding for micro-finance in places around the world where people live on less than $2.00/day. On the personal side I enjoy soccer, hiking, camping, and the outdoors.”
