Leadership and Staff

Elder and Staff Leadership Team
Glen Ellyn Bible Church (GEBC) is an Elder led and staff driven church. The term “Elder” can sound strange to our 21st century ears, but it is a biblical word that describes the highest level of leadership within the local church. The GEBC Elder board is made of up of nine men who are elected by the congregation and are charged with cultivating and casting vision, as well as overseeing caregiving and the teaching ministries of the church. The senior pastor, Kelly Brady, is the only Elder who also serves as a paid staff member.

The staff of GEBC are a group of passionate and gifted women and men charged with strategically implementing the church’s vision. Their primary task is to recruit, equip and empower volunteers to do the work of the church’s ministries. Our staff’s greatest joy is to share in ministry with the people of GEBC.

Grant Armstrong
GROWTH AND GROUPS PASTOR
Grant joined Glen Ellyn Bible Church as the Growth and Groups Pastor in 2017. He oversees local outreach and adult ministry programs.
Grant grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and as a result is a diehard Wisconsin Badger fan. He received his undergraduate degree from Taylor University where he Majored in Christian Educational Ministry and met his wife, Laura. Three years after graduating from Taylor University, Grant received his Master of Business Administration from Ball State University. Apparently addicted to the classroom, Grant and Laura moved west to Denver, CO so he could begin a Master of Divinity program at Denver Seminary. While in Denver, Grant and Laura had their first child, Tucker (2015). As Grant neared the end of his seminary program, both he and Laura felt their hearts drawn back to the midwest. They are grateful to have landed in the Glen Ellyn Bible Church community.
Grant enjoys most sports, but his favorite is watching the US rugby teams. If Grant isn’t in the office, you might find him reading or spending time outside with his family and friends.

My wife, Pam and I have been married for 22 years and are blessed to be the parents of Nate (17), Meredith (14), and Marcus (12). We have been at Glen Ellyn Bible Church for three years. We began dating while in high school in Holland, MI and, after living in Southern California for four years, we have lived in the Chicago area for the last 18 years. In previous churches, I have had the opportunity to teach adult education classes, to serve on the church leadership team, and to serve as elder. Pam and I have also enjoyed leading small groups and teaching parenting classes together. Professionally, I have been an educator all of my career, first as a teacher and currently as principal of Wheaton Academy in West Chicago where we live. In my spare time, I love to golf, bike, travel, and do most anything outdoors.

Amy joined the Glen Ellyn Bible Church staff in 2017 as the Children’s Ministry Director.  She received a degree in Elementary Education from Wheaton College and taught for a few years before staying home with her daughters, while continuing to substitute teach and volunteer in church and school activities. Amy’s volunteer work in children’s ministry led to part-time and then to full-time, and she loves it! With experience in education, children’s ministry and being a mom, she looks forward to helping parents navigate this journey of child-rearing and teaching your children about Jesus.
Originally from Wisconsin, Amy stayed in Wheaton after graduation. She and her husband, Chris, have two teenage daughters, Audrey and Beatrice.  Amy and Chris love meeting new people and making connections.  She also enjoys reading and is always open to new book suggestions.

My wife, Jill, and I have been married since 2008, and have been attending Glen Ellyn Bible Church since January 2012. We are the parents of two fantastic boys, Bennett and Sam. Since we’ve been attending GEBC, Jill and I have had the opportunity to be involved at GEBC in multiple ways, including Feed My Starving Children, small groups, nursery ministry, ushering, and the evangelism team. In the past, I have also coordinated Loop Lunches for those attending GEBC who spend Monday through Friday downtown. At our previous church, I had the opportunity to serve as a teacher in both young adults and young-marrieds classes, as well as to help establish the DuPage County arm of Administer Justice, a non-profit, legal aid organization founded on biblical principles. It is my desire to see GEBC continue to be a church committed to knowing God through His word and proclaiming the gospel. Vocationally, I am an attorney in private practice in Chicago. In addition to activities at church, I enjoy all sports (but baseball, first and foremost), reading, biking, traveling, and spending time with Jill and the boys.

Carolyn Docter
ADULT MINISTRIES ASSISTANT

Carolyn joined the GEBC staff in July 2016 as Preschool Coordinator and in Jan 2017 began her new position as the Adult Ministries Assistant.

Carolyn grew up just a few suburbs away in Elmhurst. For college she set off to Taylor University, where she found great Christian community, enjoyed running cross country and track, and fell in love with her husband Matt. After getting married, they lived in Royal Oak, MI for a few years.  Carolyn taught high school mathematics as well. In 2009 they moved back to the area for Matt to be able to go to grad school at IIT in Chicago. They quickly found GEBC and knew this was to be their church home. They wasted no time getting plugged into a small group and serving in the church.

Carolyn has enjoyed tutoring part time while being home with her two kids, Lila and Micah, and gets a good workout in daily chasing them around.  She has enjoyed connecting with the families and kids downstairs in Children’s Ministry and is excited for her new role in Adult Ministries.  Her and her husband are passionate about connecting with other families in fellowship (this usually always involves food) and spending time together as a family.

At GEBC she has served on Worship team, as a small group leader, and with the Caregiving Center, Financial Peace University, and Step-by-Step.

With a BA in Business Management from the University of South Florida (it’s warmer down there), Kim’s career has included many years in the corporate IT industry, non-profit development, small business consulting and owning her own business. She enjoys yoga, golf, singing, playing piano, travel and the Food Channel (much to her husband’s culinary delight). She loves the GEBC staff and her church family, and is always looking for new ways she can use her gifts to further God’s Kingdom.

Glen Eggert
ELDER

My wife Janille and I have been married for 29 years. We wandered into GEBC as newlyweds and never left. We now have three adult children. Our daughter Kristy is a youth pastor in Athens, GA. Our daughter Kristin is a professional soccer player in Norway. Our son Kristopher and his wife Emily live locally and are part of the FCCC church plant. The area of ministry that excites me most is seeing lives changed by Jesus. It is a joy to see the power of Christ as He brings the lost to salvation, softens hardened hearts and ignites renewed passion in those whose faith has grown cold. My favorite place to be a part of this work is in the world of sports, a place where it seems that spiritual questions can quickly rise to the surface. Vocationally, I am primarily a soccer coach and trainer, serving as the head girls’ coach at Glenbard South High School, the goalkeeper trainer for the Wheaton College Men’s Team and working with Lealta FC which is my own developmental club for girls. I also work on the maintenance staff of Wheaton Christian Grammar School. Not surprisingly, my favorite pastime is playing soccer or futsal. When I’m not out on a field or in a gym, I am an avid video game player.

As the husband to the real Dr. Larson for 34 years—31 of them at GEBC—I’ve been able to see Beth serve many in our body as their beloved physician. Together with Beth, we’ve seen GEBC, in turn, minister to two sons, now 31 and nearly 29, who’ve spent their entire lives at GEBC being cared for in the nursery, growing up through children’s and youth ministries, and now being launched into their own lives of service, both having been supported in missionary projects through GEBC. Two granddaughters (6 and nearly 4) and a grandson (nearly 2) are now completing the cycle, being cared for in the nursery, while their mom assists in worship and dad occasionally runs sound. Meanwhile, my oldest son, his wife. and their nine month old son are preparing for service as medical missionaries with TEAM in Pakistan. Along with my family, I’ve been fortunate to serve GEBC in my own ways through a variety of different ministries. I’ve served as a deacon and an elder, taught adult Sunday School, served in AWANA, coached softball, sung in the choir and worship teams, run sound, and even served for a time as our worship leader. I play the role of GEBC’s utility infielder, even having taken a few turns preaching when Kelly and the rest of the staff are away. When I’m not at GEBC, I serve as one of the adminstrators at Wheaton College, play with my grandchildren, and try to play golf (badly).

Dan Wiegman
CELEBRATE RECOVERY COORDINATOR

Dan joined the GEBC staff in February of 2016 after serving as a leader in Celebrate Recovery. Dan has a passion for the lost, broken, and marginalized in the world. Dan loves hearing peoples’ stories and seeing how the gospel can change lives. He cant get enough of it. Dan shares:

“I grew up in Mexico as a missionary kid and moved back to the US when I was about 10. After high school, DI chose the broken road and went out on a prodigal journey that almost cost me my very life. That’s when God showed up. At the point where I had lost all hope and thought that my life was over, God was there to pick me up and embrace me as his long lost son. I never went to a traditional college, but I feel I have learned a lot through the years I squandered, and through the amazing grace God has shown me. Because of what God has done in my life, I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to lead others who have lost their way to the only one who can truly help them, Jesus Christ.”

Mark Wilkerson
STUDENT MINISTRIES PASTOR

Mark joined the GEBC staff in 2016 as the Student Ministries Pastor. He serves primarily as the High School youth pastor but oversees all student ministry for Middle School through College students.

Mark is originally from the northeast, where he spent the first half of his childhood just outside of New York City. Although he spent the second half of his childhood just outside of Boston, Mark’s heart and sports allegiances remain permanently tied to the far-superior New York teams. Mark felt called to ministry in high school, and pursued a degree in Christian Education and Ministry and Bible and Theology at Wheaton College. After graduating in 2011 he joined the staff of an inner-city church plant in Chicago for two years. After marrying his wife, Elle, in 2013 he heard the unmistakable voice of God, saying, “Go West, young man!” Mark and Elle moved out to Denver, where Mark earned his Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary, served as the youth and worship pastor at a local church, and spent his free time shredding the fresh powder of the Rockies. Mark and Elle have a crazy and hilarious daughter named Hadley (2014). Mark enjoys watching and playing pretty much any sport, playing guitar, listening to music, the great outdoors, and doing just about anything with good friends.
